A Social Studies teacher would teach American History, geography, government, consumer education and social studies electives, as well as one math or employment skills class. An English teacher will need to teach reading, writing, grammar and literature. Other subject areas may also be available. Instructors teach five periods per day and have up to eight students working individually each period. Although teacher-student ratios are small, teachers need to be creative and secure. Teachers are also asked to perform other duties such as advising students on academic matters and planning assemblies. A car is helpful.

The clinic provides urgent medical care, referral and advocacy for ongoing medical care, primary care for patients with no other access to care, and social services.
They are looking for someone to fill the position of either Clinic Assistant/Interpreter or Registered Nurse. As a Clinic Assistant (C.A.), the volunteer spends 50% of his/her time as a Medical Assistant getting patient histories and vital signs, doing lab work, taking blood, etc. When the clinic is not open, the JV is responsible for organizing health promotion activities, ordering supplies and medications, recording lab results, scheduling volunteers and helping patients become insured. An RN would be responsible for health education with individuals, families and support groups; triage of patients who walk into the clinic; school based nursing; and organizing alternative health providers to provide care at the clinic. Since a majority of the population served is Hispanic, Spanish Speaking skills are a big plus for the C.A. position and very helpful for the RN. This job requires someone with an interest in promoting health for individuals and communities.
