jobs - clergy Bi-Vocational Pastor Mitchell, SD
Experience and a degree from a Southern Baptist-affiliated seminary are preferred, but not required.

Because of the financial realities of a small church in a rural area, this is a bi-vocational position. Housing and utilities will be provided. However, employment opportunities exist at a number of local industries, especially in health care, education, and telecommunications.

We are a small church, but we know where God is leading us. Do you have the skills and calling to help us get there?

We are looking for a pastor with a strong teaching and missions background to help teach a group of young Christians what it means to have a deeper walk with the Lord and to develop creative and effective outreach ministries to both our community and the world.

Mitchell, a city of about 15,000, is 70 miles west of Sioux Falls in southeastern South Dakota. While churches dot the lanndscape and many who live in the area are "religious," few know what it means to have a personal relationship with Christ. Rural South Dakota is a challenging field, but the rewards are worth the challenges.

jobs - clergy Missions Pastor Orchard park, NY $40,000 to $46,000
Armor Bible Presbyterian Church, a 35-year-old congregation of approximately 300, located in Orchard Park, NY, is seeking a pastor for a missions work. The daughter church, Covenant Bible Presbyterian Church, has been holding services since June 2003 in the Joylan Theater in nearby Springville, NY. The missions pastor we are seeking will join the two current pastors on staff at Armor, but his primary responsibilities (75%) will involve building the fledgling congregation (avg. 36) at Covenant.

The ideal candidate must have the burden and vision of a “church planter” with specific gifts in evangelism and preaching. He will live and work in the Springville community, a small town of aprox. 4300. Experience in relating to and evangelizing Roman Catholics would be considered a strength, as Western New York is predominately Catholic. Applicant must subscribe to the W.C.F. and be ordainable in the Bible Presbyterian denomination.

Please send applications to Armor Bible Presbyterian Church, Reverend Douglas Sukhia 5650 Powers Rd., Orchard Park NY 14127 or (716)648-4559 or fax (716)6484564 or e-mail to armor@bpc.org

jobs - clergy Pastor of Equipping Minot, North Dakota
DESCRIPTION: Trinity Church of Minot, North Dakota seeks a Pastor of Equipping to partner with our Preaching Pastor and lay elders in their commission by God to 'shepherd the flock of God' (I Peter 5:2) and to 'equip the saints for the work of ministry' (Ephesians 4:12). Trinity is a growing church whose stated purpose is 'to glorify God, honor Christ and deploy Spirit-led disciples.' Our key values include God-centeredness in all of life, worship, the centrality of God's Word, prayer, growing relationships of costly grace and outreach to the lost and needy.

The Pastor of Equipping should be a man who burns with a passion to help other Christians understand their spiritual gifts/calling and become trained and deployed into active ministry both within and beyond the local church. He should not only have the gifts of an evangelist but find deep satisfaction in training other Christians for outreach and multiplying discipleship. In this way he will be the point man to help develop an outreach and assimilation strategy which bridges the Christians of Trinity Church with the unbelievers of Minot and beyond. He will also become a partner with Pastor Andy (preaching pastor) and the elders in their endeavor to build a systematic yet flexible means of grounding all Trinity Church believers in the basic biblical doctrines of the faith, going on to train many for church leadership and ministry in various contexts locally and around the world. The Pastor of Equipping will, like Pastor Andy, play the role of a 'generalist' in ministry, focusing his energies on those ministry areas in which he is uniquely gifted and called, yet always ready to serve in whatever capacity the church needs him most at any given time. He should be a consummate team-player, eager to compliment Pastor Andy's studious and visionary gifts with people-intensive and practical ministry implementation.

Some optimal characteristics of the type of man for this position would include the following:

1. Spiritual gifts: evangelism, teaching, administration, discernment and encouragement
2. He resists doing the ministry himself but is passionately motivated to help Christians of all ages discover their callings and hone and use their spiritual gifts in regular ministry.
3. He ministers best in one-on-one and small group settings.
4. He is a highly motivated and energetic self-starter.
5. He has a long-term perspective toward ministry and commitment to a local church.
6. He enjoys taking a vision with which he resonates, but didn't necessarily originate, and put its details into action.
7. He is more energized through contact with people than in solitude.
8. He has a gregarious, fun-loving personality.
9. He is passionately convinced that practical ministry arises best from God-centered theology.
10. He enjoys thoughtfully reading and discussing the best books.
11. He has had at least one significant experience as an associate pastor and sees himself as a consummate associate rather than a lead, point or preaching pastor.

It is not by mistake that our second staff pastor will be called a Pastor of Equipping. His title denotes his primary job description. The New Testament reveals several facets of a shepherding elder's duties, including pastoral care and correction (I Pet. 5:2), preaching, teaching and leading (I Tim. 5:17), commanding and exhorting (Heb. 13:17, I Thes. 5:12), giving himself to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4) and training God's people for works of service (Eph. 4:12). Though the Pastor of Equipping should in general, as an elder, be found living out all of these aspects of his commission from God, we desire to focus his energies primarily toward the last text listed above, the mission of proactively getting to know, training and unleashing in service the believers at Trinity Church.

As has been mentioned above, the Pastor of Equipping will be a focused generalist. That is, he will not be devoted to any particular demographic group in the church (singles, seniors, youth, etc.) but rather will be devoted to training called/gifted laypeople to these groups in ministry. Therefore, for instance, though he will not be a youth pastor, he will have the responsibility to identify, train and oversee lay youth workers to put into motion the elders' philosophy of youth ministry. The same will hold true for children's ministries, adult ministries, small group ministries, outreach, etc. Given the resulting scope of his responsibilities, though it is important that he be a consummate 'people person,' his need for a high level of administrative gifts (ability to manage and delegate) cannot be over-emphasized.

SALARY RANGE: based on experience and education

QUALIFICATIONS: M.Div. from a God-centered, Bible-based seminary
At least 3 years experience in an associate pastor role.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Please submit a professional resume with basic description of pastoral gifts, passions, calling, experience and personal long-term ministry vision.
